چکیده
Fossil turtles from Mokrá-Quarry, South Moravia Region, Czech Republic, are described in this paper. Remains come two already known karstic fissures uncovered Mokrá-Western Quarry (1/2001 Turtle Joint and 2/2003 Reptile Joint), as well three new (TC/2001 4/2018) Mokrá-Central (3/2005). All localities correspond to the early Miocene (Burdigalian: late Eggenburgian-Ottnangian MN4). The newly material belongs several turtle individuals, including over 100 shell elements, so studied here constitutes one of largest samples regards Republic fossil record. Most these remains have been identified Ptychogaster (Ptychogaster) sp. Testudo (Chersine) cf. kalksburgensis Toula, 1896. However, specimens presented (i.e., fragment postcranial bones) a large tortoise (Testudinidae indet.). fauna is congruent with ecological environments, dry karst landscape open dense steppe vegetation inferred for heliophile testudinids, freshwater masses semi-terrestrial ptychogasterid. Finally, paper expands our knowledge assemblages Central Europe during Miocene.

Molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis in the Czech Republic, 2004: analysis of M. tuberculosis complex isolates originating from the city of prague, south Moravia and the Moravian-Silesian region.
OBJECTIVES To compare M. tuberculosis complex genotypes from representative regions of the Czech Republic in order to estimate changes in strain prevalence and in the extent of imported drug-resistant tuberculosis. METHODS Primary M. tuberculosis complex isolates (n=155) and follow-up isolates (n=15) from 155 patients from the first half of 2004 (98 from Prague, 37 from South Moravia and 35 f...
متن کاملSquilla taulinanus n. sp. (Crustacea, Stomatopoda, Squillidae) from the Burdigalian (Miocene) of Taulignan, south-eastern France
Mantis shrimps (Crustacea: Stomatopoda) are rather rare in the fossil record. Nineteen species have been assigned to Squillidae, of which 12 species have been recorded from the Miocene. We describe herein a squillid, Squilla taulinanus n. sp., from the Miocene of Taulignan, south-eastern France. The exceptionally well-preserved specimen is remarkable in apparently having abdominal somites 5–6 c...
متن کاملPtychoptera deleta Novák, 1877 from the Early Miocene of the Czech Republic: redescription of the first fossil attributed to Ptychopteridae (Diptera)
The first fossil that was described in Ptychopteridae, Ptychoptera deletaNovák, 1877 from the classical Early Miocene locality Mokřina (Krottensee) in western Bohemia is re-examined. The re-description of the holotype including a new line drawing and remarks summarizing the scarce fossil record of this group is provided.
متن کاملThe Study of Recent Destructive Processes in the Moravian Karst Caves (czech Republic)
This work tried to decide whether an occasionally observed falling of straw stalactites in the Moravian Karst caves is caused by a hypothetical chemical corrosion. The straw stalactite wall was found to be formed by three calcite layers. The middle layer (a stalactite skeleton) was typically cracked in agreement with calcite cleavage. Some impact of chemical corrosion was positively identified ...
متن کاملEarly-Miocene Gastropods from Khavich Area, South of Sirjan, (Kerman, Iran): Biostratigraphy, Paleogeography and Paleoecology
A total of 12 species of marine gastropods, among which two taxa are new, is reported for the first time from the Miocene deposits of Khavich section, south of Sirjan, Kerman. Gastropods assemblage in Khavich area indicates deposition in shallow, warm ramp-type carbonate platform. The Miocene and even Oligocene gastropod assemblages, relatively similar to Khavich section, reported from the othe...
